Who says the lost art of handwriting can’t come with whiskers? At Orlando Cat Café, our Cursive with the Cats course blends classic penmanship practice with something no textbook can offer: adoptable cats ready for a little purr therapy between loops and letters.
It’s one of our favorite ways to bring the community in—families learning together in Clermont while supporting the same rescue mission that has helped more than 3,600 cats and kittens find homes through SPCA Florida since 2016. Skills on the page, soft paws in the lounge: that’s the Cursive with the Cats spirit.
How the three-part course works
Cursive with the Cats is designed for ages 8 and up. Each session runs from 4–5 p.m., with about 45 minutes of instruction followed by 15 minutes of cat play time. The full series is $60 for all three classes, and participants are expected to attend all three sessions (no refunds for missed classes).
Parents are welcome to stay in the café while young writers work on their loops, dips, and flourishes—then everyone can enjoy a little feline downtime at the end. It’s structured enough to teach, gentle enough to feel like an adventure.
A July 2026 series—and more to come
Our July 2026 series met on July 15, 22, and 29 as a shining example of how we mix education, fun, and rescue under one roof. Those dates are past, but the program model remains: limited seats, three connected classes, and plenty of motivation to practice when a curious café cat might supervise your homework.
