23 Things That Jean Luc Learned in 2023

White cat writing a letter
This list is inspired from Karlie Flood who was inspired by Emily Mais and since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, here is my list of 23 things I learned in 2023, and because it is important to always strive for self-improvement, one thing I hope to learn in 2024.
  1. Licking the toilet paper roll really doesn’t help when I am nauseated.
  2. Sharing IS caring.
  3. There are a lot of really good toys at the bottom of the toy basket.
  4. Purring is not only self-soothing, but it also helps soothe your human too.
  5. There is no need to gulp down the canned food – no one is going to take it away from you.
  6. If Taylor Swift’s cat can make it onto the cover of Time Magazine, there is no reason that I can’t.
  7. Pet strollers are a great way to safely see the world.
  8. Don’t use the litterbox with wet paws.
  9. When travelling by air, make sure your human asks for private TSA screening.  It’s life changing.
  10. Licking the lampshade doesn’t really help when I am nauseated.
  11. Be still and just be.
  12. I don’t like Swiss cheese.
  13. No matter what color you are, how much you weigh, or how old you are, you are perfect.
  14. A little catnip now and then can give you a whole new perspective.
  15. If you sit quietly and wait, your human will probably share the last of the milk in the cereal bowl, but if you keep head-butting them, they probably won’t.
  16. Whether you are 14 months old or 14 years old, your human still considers you to be a “kitten”.
  17. There is no perfect spot in the litterbox, but it doesn’t hurt to look for one.
  18. A.I. will never replace C.A.T.
  19. People who say that they are “dog people” aren’t really bad – they just don’t have a lot of experience with cats. Otherwise, they would be “cat people”.
  20. Miralax really works!
  21. There’s almost nothing that a brief nap can’t solve.
  22. There’s almost nothing that a little gravy can’t solve either!
  23. Home is not a place – it’s a person.
And the one thing I would like to learn in 2024? Knitting!
Happy New Year!
